2018-2019 International Green Gown Awards Launched

The first stage of the 2018-2019 International Green Gown Awards are now open for applications.

Do you want to inspire and motivate your team, management and students to do more? The International Green Gown Awards, supported by UN Environment, recognise exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities and colleges. The Awards cover all aspects of educational institutions – from their teaching and research, leadership, buildings and food to how students can benefit the quality of life in the communities around them. The Awards provide the sector with benchmarks for excellence and are respected by Government, funding councils, senior management, academics and students.

The International Green Gown Awards Stage 1 is open to any university or college across the world*. Apply today for an Award to open up new opportunities for your institution.

There is no limit on the number of applications or categories each institution can enter. Entry is free of charge.

The categories are:

Sustainability Institution of the Year
Benefitting Society
Student Engagement

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2019.

*Exceptions

If your region already has an existing Green Gown Awards programme then you can only apply once to your regional Green Gown Award programme and are NOT eligible to apply for the International Green Gown Awards. If your institution has a campus outside of these regions then the regional campus initiatives are eligible for entry. The following Green Gown Award programmes exist:
