Salix Blog: Awarding a Sustainable Future for Education

During these unprecedented times, the EAUC has carefully considered the options for this year’s Green Gown Awards ahead of launching the call for applications. Upon reflection, the EAUC believes that institutions should still have the chance to be recognised for their excellent efforts and feel that applying for an award is a positive activity that will encourage unity amongst distanced teams. The Awards will also provide a future opportunity for celebration with peers.

With this in mind, the EAUC is pleased to announce that the 2020 Green Gown Awards are now open for applications. As in previous years, the Awards will recognise those institutions, both large and small, that have made a difference.

As a company that prides itself on strong values, Salix is delighted to support the dedicated work that higher and further education institutions have contributed to the UK climate agenda over the past year.

Salix is proud to be sponsoring the Sustainability Champion of the Year category at the Green Gown Awards 2020. This category recognises both staff and students at a tertiary education institution who have worked hard at implementing a sustainability project/initiative (or several) and whose involvement has made a positive impact be that on their peers, their institution, their students, their local community or their local workforce.

Torran McNeill, Higher and Further Education Programme Coordinator at Salix finance, said "Working with the higher education sector every day has proven that institutions bring together both students and staff to form a strong and inspiring community, taking bold steps to tackle climate change. Sustainability is about long-term relationship building and implementing innovative and impactful change. I can't wait to hear from the sector about all that has been accomplished in 2020".

Entries are now open and any UK and Ireland University or College can enter for free. Entries will close on 3rd June.

All information including FAQs, tips and entry forms can be found on the EAUC website. For inspiration, visit the showcase of case studies and videos from past winners, highly commended and finalists for free on the Sustainability Exchange.
