Smart Lighting Control System for Sustainable Operation of UniMAP Main Campus

This innovation is specially designed as an energy saving solution for restrooms and corridors at UniMAP Main Campus buildings. The main purpose of this project is to provide automatic lighting control system to avoid waste of electricity supply during the interval of unused time which is in line with SDG 7. Budget for this project is provided by the university under special sustainable fund.

Based on the result obtained at UniMAP Main Campus buildings, this project has managed to reduce energy consumption and electricity bills, hence contributes to CO2 avoidance to the environment. In addition, it also attracted interest from industry to collaborate with UniMAP researchers to implement this project at local community buildings. Through this collaboration, UniMAP researchers will transfer knowledge on energy efficiency and conduct energy awareness activities to the community involved with the aim of reducing their electricity consumption.
