Flood relief and rehabilitation drive in the hill torrent, flood affected region of Dera Ghazi Khan

Hill torrents originated from Suleman Mountain Range (southern part of Punjab Pakistan) due to heavy spells of monsoon rains in august 2022. It has been most ferocious during last four decades affecting over 100,000 people besides damaging nearly 4,000 homes and over 200,000 acres of crop area in Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan) (82 Km away from MNS University of Agriculture Multan). Flash flooding of more than 158,000 cusecs passes the DG Khan causing havoc in a hill torrent stream damaging the 278 villages and crops (cotton, rice, sorghum, pearl millet, vegetables) over an area of 198,000 acres.

Volunteer students of MNS University of Agriculture Multan, quickly responded to the situation and set up the flood relief and rehabilitation operation in the affected villages of DG Khan. Ready to eat/ready to cook meals and tents were provided to affected families. First aid to people and livestock was also provided through the public health camps and veterinary health camps in affected regions.
