To mark the launch, we hear from:

Our Headline Partner, Diane Mak, Head of Impact Strategy at Allianz Global Investors: "We are very pleased to be partnering with the International Green Gown Awards, as we see the huge value of empowering the next generation to innovate and collaborate, to help drive positive long-term impacts for the world we live in. Education is a critical component in enabling individuals to make informed decisions in their journey towards generating positive change, and it has been inspiring to see the many impactful projects that the International Green Gown Awards has already helped to catalyse around the world. We encourage colleges and universities to make use of this platform and join this year’s Awards, so that the ideas of the next generation can continue to inspire and motivate action around the world for a more sustainable future."

And Charlotte Bonner, CEO of EAUC and secretariat of the Awards: "The education sector has a critical role in contributing to our international sustainability goals. This contribution includes preparing learners for their futures, embedding sustainability using ‘whole organisation approaches’, supporting a just transition, taking climate and biodiversity action and shaping society for the better through research and innovation. This is increasingly being recognised around the globe – the role of education now being part of the UN COP agenda is a clear signal of this.

It's the tenth anniversary of the International Green Gown Awards this year. Through the awards we’re delighted to recognise and celebrate the people and initiatives that are most impactful and innovative across tertiary education internationally. We’ve recently seen a huge spike in interest in the awards - last year saw a 66% increase in applications – so we look forward to continuing to provide a platform for what excellence looks like across our sector."

Recognising exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by the world's universities and colleges, the International Green Gown Awards set the bar and put every learning institution at the heart of delivering the UN Global Goals.

We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)L’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)International Association of Universities (IAU) and the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI)

Please support the International Green Gown Awards

Students and universities are full of world-changing sustainability ideas, but for too long their Award-winning solutions to the climate and environmental crisis have been ignored.

Help us to get the word out and globally scale their brilliance.

We believe in students and the power of education and the International Green Gown Awards help identify the best ideas and encourage others to take action. The Awards are UN recognised but we don't get any funding to run them. That is why we need your help.

By donating you will help the International Green Gown Awards to recognise and scale more of the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken around the globe, many of which will, contribute to how the world builds back better from the Covid-19 pandemic.
