Sustainability Strategy

We want to transform the Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) into a model institution of sustainability and commitment to environmental conservation.

This change will cover both the environment of the university (the campus and the venues) as well as the habits of the members of the university community and activities such as teaching, research, and knowledge transfer.

In this way, the campus will become a sustainable, energy-efficient, self-sufficient environment with a carbon footprint zero, which also serves as an inspiration and educational tool for the university community and the society of the Balearic Islands. To make it possible, a combination of sustainable design, renewable energy sources and conscious use of resources is necessary.

At the same time, the adoption of this perspective in teaching, research and knowledge transfer promotes a culture of sustainability and balance with the environment among the members of the university community, decisively facilitating the creation of knowledge that has an impact on this issue and its transmission.
