We are delighted with our 3-year headline sponsor partnership with UKRI for the UK & Ireland Green Gown Awards. Now in its third year, we are looking forward to continuing the partnership and sharing and promoting the very best of sustainability good practice in tertiary education in 2024.
Established in 2004, delivered by the EAUC, and judged by industry experts, the Awards have become synonymous with rewarding sustainability excellence within the higher and further education sector. Now in their 20th year, they continue to be the leading recognition of sustainability best practice, encouraging others to take responsibility in creating a better world and inspiring a new generation of leaders.
Reflecting on this year's partnership, we hear from Susan Simon and Charlotte Bonner.
“I am delighted that UKRI is now entering the third year of us sponsoring the Green Gown Awards. UKRI is committed to supporting environmental sustainability across the research and innovation sector and we want to promote and support the important role universities and colleges are playing in helping research and innovation become more environmentally sustainable and reach net zero. We have seen so many brilliant projects and achievements over time as sponsor of the awards and I am very much looking forward to celebrating this year’s entrants."
Susan Simon, UKRI Environmental Sustainability Programme Director
"As we launch the call for entries for this year's Green Gown Awards in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, we're thrilled to continue our mission of recognising and celebrating sustainability excellence in the tertiary education sector. This year, we've refined our criteria to ensure we're not only acknowledging impactful initiatives but also spotlighting innovation that drives positive change. We're particularly eager to welcome first-time applicants and those from across the diverse landscape of the further education and training sector, recognising the wealth of work happening in these organisations. At the heart of the Green Gown Awards is the belief that every success story and lesson learned fuels our sector’s collective journey towards a more sustainable future. We invite institutions from across the post-16 education spectrum to join us in showcasing what’s working for them, what’s impactful and innovative, and inspiring others to follow suit."
